Scooter vs Grab vs Taxi: Getting Around Phuket in 2026

Phuket has no metro, no meaningful bus network for tourists, and some of the highest taxi prices in Southeast Asia. That is why two wheels dominate — but the honest comparison is worth doing, because a scooter is not the right answer for everyone.

Here are the real numbers for a typical week, and the cases where Grab genuinely wins.

The weekly maths

Scooter: ฿1,400–2,400/week rental + ~฿150 fuel = ฿1,550–2,550 total, unlimited trips. Grab: Patong–Kata runs ฿250–400 each way; two trips a day ≈ ฿4,200–5,600/week for one route pair.
