About this Yamaha
The Yamaha Mio is a simple, light and dependable automatic scooter that does everything you need without any fuss. Easy to ride and very economical, it is one of our best-value options for getting around town and to the nearest beaches.
Rented from our Chalong base, the Yamaha Mio is a automatic scooter with a 125cc engine producing 9.5 hp @ 8,000 rpm. It returns around 52 km/L, so a single tank goes a long way between Phuket's beaches, viewpoints and night markets.
It is ideal for value seekers and beginners who want a cheap, light, easy-to-handle scooter. Every BikesPhuket bike is fully serviced, sanitised and supplied with two helmets, basic insurance and free delivery to your hotel. Pay by the day, week or month - the longer you ride, the more you save.
Where to Ride the Yamaha Mio in Phuket
With its light chassis and automatic transmission, the Yamaha Mio is happiest on beach roads and in town traffic - U-turns on Rat-U-Thit Road and hotel-lane squeezes are effortless. Fuel stops cost around ฿60 and the underseat storage swallows a beach bag.
Big Buddha via Chalong backroads: a 6 km climb with 20% ramps near the top - the reward is a 360-degree panorama over Chalong Bay.
Cape Panwa aquarium loop: gentle traffic-free peninsula riding, ideal for first days on Thai roads.
Collect the bike at our Patong office or get free delivery to your hotel anywhere between Patong, Kata, Karon, Rawai, Phuket Town and Chalong.

Rental FAQs
How old do I need to be and what documents are required to rent the Yamaha Mio?
You must be at least 18. Please bring your passport and a valid driving licence - ideally an International Driving Permit endorsed for motorcycles. We hold either a passport copy or a refundable cash/card deposit for the duration of the rental.
Do I legally need a motorcycle licence to ride in Thailand?
Yes. Thai law requires a motorcycle licence or an IDP with the motorcycle category. Police checkpoints are common around Phuket, and your travel insurance may not be valid without the correct licence. A helmet is compulsory for both rider and passenger.
Are helmets and insurance included with the Yamaha Mio?
Every rental includes two helmets and basic third-party insurance at no extra cost. Optional full damage cover is available, which lowers both your excess and the security deposit. Just ask us when you book.
Can you deliver the Yamaha Mio to my hotel?
Yes - we offer free delivery and collection within Chalong. Delivery to the airport or other beaches across the island is available for a small fee. Send us your hotel name and rental dates and we will bring the bike to you, fuelled and sanitised.
What is the fuel and damage policy?
The Yamaha Mio comes with enough fuel to reach a station; please return it with a similar level. A refundable security deposit of ฿1,800 applies and is returned in full when the bike is handed back undamaged.
