Phuket's viewpoints cluster so conveniently in the south that a scooter connects the six best in a single unhurried day — about 60 km of riding with a swim in the middle.
Here is the route in the right order, so the light is always on your side.
Morning: the classics from above
Start 08:00 from Kata or Karon. First stop Karon Viewpoint (the three-beach postcard) while the air is clear and the buses absent. Continue south to Windmill Viewpoint — same coastline, a fraction of the crowd, best Nai Harn framing on the island. Drop to Nai Harn for a swim and a beachside coffee before 11:00.
Midday: capes and lunch
Promthep Cape at midday is a quick photo stop (you will return for sunset if you loved it — see the sunset guide). Lunch in Rawai at the seafood grills. Then cut north through Chalong for the Big Buddha climb — full route details in the dedicated guide — with both-coast views as the reward.
Afternoon: town and the finish
Descend to Phuket Town for Khao Rang Hill — the terrace café view over the old town roofs is the island's most underrated. Optional bonus for the unhurried: Monkey Hill radar road above town (macaques included, keep bags zipped). Finish with dinner on Thalang Road among the shophouses. Total: ~60 km, six viewpoints, one swim, zero parking fees on a scooter.
FAQ
How long does the viewpoint route take?
A full relaxed day: 08:00–19:00 with a swim, lunch and every stop. Riders who skip the swims compress it into 5–6 hours.
Which viewpoint is best for sunset?
Promthep Cape is the classic and the crowd proves it. Windmill Viewpoint just above offers nearly the same sun with a tenth of the people.
Is the route beginner-friendly?
Mostly yes — the only demanding sections are the Big Buddha climb and Karon hill. New riders can skip Big Buddha and still get five world-class views.
